“When I spoke up against Naira Marley, I was criticized” — Ex Lagos Police PRO, Badmus Opetodolapo
Badmus Opetodolapo, a former public relations officer for the Lagos Police, stated that she faced harsh criticism for speaking out against well-known Nigerian musician Naira Marley.
The police officer, who was well-known for being active on social media, had used her account in 2019 to criticize Naira Marley’s lifestyle and a post he had made about women’s bodies.
Opetodolapo claimed that when she spoke up for herself against the figure he portrays and the looming threat it signifies, she was assaulted on the inside and the outside.
The relevant authorities are aware of this, she claimed.
Her post read:
“I was attacked on the inside and out when I spoke out against this character and the imminent danger it depicts. My heart is with the deceased and everything that represents him, and I beg to be left out of the tagging, according to the relevant authorities.”
In a related story, actress Uche Ogbodo criticized Nigerians for their “all talk and no action” response to Mohbad’s murder.
Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has used her social media account to vent her anger at Nigerians for doing nothing to stop Mohbad’s death.
In a recent post, the actress expressed her sorrow at the passing of the young singer Mohbad, who was allegedly murdered by his former record company, Marlian. She also made note of how easily Nigerians condemn injustice while doing nothing to ensure responsibility.
Uche Ogbodo noted the irony of Nigerians encouraging individuals who are experiencing hardship to speak up while simultaneously laughing and making fun of them when they do.
