Odukoya’s son, Jimmy becomes church’s general overseer

The Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, has appointed Jimmy Odukoya, the first son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, as its new general overseer.

On Sunday, a Trustee member stated that the Pastor had taken over as the Chairman of the Church’s Board of Trustees.

The late Odukoya was buried this month after passing away on August 7 in the United States.

Starting on September 30, his first child will formally succeed him as senior pastor.

The board member announced to the applauding crowd that Pastor Jimmy was now the church’s senior pastor and also the board’s chairman.

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise claimed in a sermon to the congregation that the late Taiwo Odukoya had discussed the succession plan with the members of the board of trustees (BoT) before he passed away.

Okpaise said that Jimmy was unanimously chosen by the BoT to serve as both the senior pastor and board chair.

The board decided that Jimmy’s installation will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023,” he remarked.

The church’s founder, Odukoya, passed away in the United States of America on August 7 at the age of 67.

On November 9, 2021, fewer than two years after losing his South African-born wife Nomthi, he passed away from cancer.

Odukoya and Nomthi were married for 11 years and had two boys.
Odukoya was married to Bimbo for 21 years prior to Nomthi.

In the 2005 Sosoliso plane tragedy in Port Harcourt, the capital of the Rivers, Bimbo perished.

Jimmy, a Nollywood actor, attended Oral Roberts University in the United States for his studies.

He portrayed Oba Ade, one of the main characters, in the Netflix film “Woman King.”

In addition, he has appeared in a number of films, including “Lifting the Veil,” “I am Nazzy,” and “Oga Pastor.”

In addition to performing, he gives motivational speeches.

Tolu Tolu Odukoya Ijogun, his sister, has been appointed as the church’s new associate pastor.
