How motherhood changed me – Ini Edo

Ini Edo, a well-known Nollywood actress, has spoken candidly about her mothering journey. In an interview with fellow actress Lilian Afegbai that was released on Tuesday, the mother of one made some comments.

Edo remarked that becoming a mother had shown her that it was possible to love another person more than oneself.

“The fact that you can actually love somebody else more than yourself,” was Edo’s response when asked how parenting has affected her.

She added, “All of a sudden, somebody else is more important than yourself.  I’m somebody who just really love myself and my space. But then, you realise that before you start to think about yourself, you wake up in the morning and you’re not thinking of yourself.

“You’re thinking of your child.” The actress said that she was now conscious of the fact that she was responsible for someone else’s life. “There’s a consciousness that comes with the fact that you’re responsible for somebody else’s life,” Edo said.

When the actress revealed that she had adopted a child via surrogacy in late 2021, it created a stir on social media. Edo claimed that the daughter was genetically hers because her eggs were used to fertilize the infant in an interview with Stella Dimoko Korkus.

The 40-year-old actress also spoke candidly about her previous miscarriages, stressing that the incident had no bearing on her choice to use a surrogate.
