“I would have stayed in my marriage if I had a child” – Toke Makinwa.

Toke Makinwa, a media personality and actress, has stated that she would have remained in her marriage if she and Ayida Maje had a child.

Recall that Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida separated in 2015 after it was discovered that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant with their child.

On the most recent episode of her podcast, TokeMoments, the actress did admit that if she had a child with the marriage, she would have had to make sacrifices.

She claimed that most women stay in unhappy marriages because of their children, and she wasn’t passing judgment on them because she might have acted in a same manner herself..

In her words,

“Many women continue to live in unhappy marriages because of their children. Women have been saying things like, “The marriage is over but I only stay for my kids,” for the longest time.

And if I had given birth while I was still married, I might have been one of those ladies. because I also had the trauma of losing both of my parents when I was eight. I was adopted, after all. I am grateful for my wonderful life, but there have been occasions when I have wondered what my life may have been like if that hadn’t happened.

So, in order to ensure that my kids got both their parents, I may have had to make a compromise. One of these women might have been me. I’m not even passing judgment on anyone at this time.”
