In 2014, the couple divorced, with Ini Edo citing “irreconcilable differences,” which they could not overcome. The marriage lasted for six years, and there were no children.

However, the popular actress announced that she had welcomed a daughter via surrogacy in December 2021. The eggs belonged to her, so the child is genetically hers. As for the child’s father, Ini Edo revealed that she opted for a donor for “peace of mind.” She also revealed that she had more eggs frozen in case she went for another surrogacy or decides to carry the baby herself.

Ini Edo is still single, and there’s no report of her dating anyone yet.

Controversies

Like every beautiful actress, Ini Edo has her share of controversies. First, there was wild media speculation that she was dating multiple men. However, she debunked such a claim, saying she was a “one man” type of lady. Also, her marriage to Philip Ehiagwina was a hot topic in the Nigerian media. Ehiagwina married another Nollywood actress, Ruth Okoro, but the couple divorced.

When Ini Edo’s marriage to Ehiagwina was announced, Ruth took to the media to call her out as a husband snatcher. She accused Ini Edo of making her husband abandon her at the hospital when she was suffering from cancer.

However, she debunked Okoro’s claim, stating that Ehiagwina was long divorced before they ever met. When she was divorced, there was wild speculation that Ini Edo was unfaithful, which led to the collapse of her marriage. But she later revealed that Ehiagwina had cheated instead by abandoning her to move in with a woman in Ghana.

Also, the news surrounding her daughter’s birth generated mixed reactions. While some congratulated her, others bashed her for having a child out of wedlock and choosing surrogacy instead of carrying her child herself.

The question of the child’s father’s identity was also a hot topic. However, Ini Edo revealed the father of a child was not a random person, but she chose the donor option to avoid baby daddy drama.
